What I Write
My published stories and current works in progress cross a range of genres, but they all are rooted in character-centered journeys that span from terror and adventure to family dramas with a twist.
I believe that part of the purpose of any artist is to observe the world, to look reality square in the eye, and then turn to the audience and tell what we have seen. I strive for my stories to do this, and for my humble observations to inspire others to live with their eyes open.
You can expect Lara E. Madden stories to feature misfit characters in unusual settings and circumstances whose stories try to get at something real.

Who I Am
I'm just the weird kid on the playground who entertained herself with imaginary people in made-up worlds throughout grade school instead of making friends like the normal children.
Incidentally, I'm still making up stories, although I like people more these days, and I did eventually happen upon some really fantastic ones who I think I'll keep around. It's a good thing too, as (most of) the characters in the stories are human.
Although many of my stories are not overtly "Christian," that is, written specifically to the Christian market, my faith and relationship with Jesus play a major role in everything I write and in my reasons for writing. I believe that all of us are part of a cosmic story written by an Author who has instilled humanity with some of the core parts of his personality, including the need to create and tell stories. When I write, it is an act of worship to my own Author, in celebration of the story he has written on the fabric of the universe, and of our small place in it.
Journey With Me
I won't lie to you, I am near the beginning of this intrepid voyage into the unknown, dark, and mysterious world of fiction.
With only a handful of published short stories, two progressing novels of wildly different genres, and a lot of time spent honing my craft through projects that you will never ever see, I have yet to prove myself to you.
And yet, I invite you along for the adventure. Who knows? Perhaps we will both be surprised to see where we find ourselves in the end.
